O.L. Design

First of all, people seems to like the new design! It was featured at Screenspire yesterday, and listed as a “notable entry” over at CSS Import. Thanks!

As said earlier, the process of redesigning Lonnroth.info was a pretty extensive one. It was so mainly because of me never being satisfied with what I came up with. This resulted in a pretty large archive on my HD containing unused and unfinished designs, and since I think it’s kind of sad that they’re only lying there doing nothing of purpose, I decided to do this little writeup and let a couple of those unused designs get a little lime light. So, here goes.

Musical Imagery version 1

This design was made sometime around April 2005. “Musical Imagery” was then supposed to be the name of it. It was never more than a flashy home page, though, since I couldn’t decide which way to go with the rest of the site. I think it’s pretty nice, so perhaps I will update the typography a little and use it as a template for some other site in the future. Take a look.

Now here’s a nice one, I think. This design was completely finished and ready for launch about two months ago, but sudden waves of inspiration made me start working on other designs, and this one was abandoned. Inspired by the site MORE, created by the great Shaun Inman, the big arrow-things on the top and bottom right of the site had a nice and smooth javascript scroll function on them so you could get up and down between the different contents of the site in a nice way. Here’s a design based on some illustrations I’d made. It looks nice, but it turned out a bit too GUI-like for my taste. Some of the icons used here were resurrected in Mutif, as you can see. This was also the first design I made that used sIFR. Take a look.
